4th Bel [Voice/Action]

[Kouki’s been sick for the past couple of days, and Atsuro’s pretty sure that eating the same thing every day must be boring. Koubro needs better than that though! And seeing as how Atsuro does know how to cook—thanks to him living alone back at home—he figured he may as well try to mix things up by making something himself. …Except even if he does know how to cook, it’s not like he can pull a dish out of thin air. He needs a recipe to (religiously) follow so he doesn’t screw up…! As such, he goes ahead and makes a short voice entry.]

Hey guys! Do any of you happen to know of any good soup recipes? Especially ones that are good for when people are sick. I’d like to find a few, so if any of you could suggest some, that’d be great.

[Not long after making the journal entry, Atsuro can be found walking around the plaza for a bit. He may head on over to the library for a bit first, but then he goes ahead to pick up food and ingredients for Koubro’s food, and just for the apartment in general. After then, he goes to the bakery, and then back home to community building 7. Feel free to bump into him!]

[ Hey, Atsuro, guess who spots you after you come out of the food store. Ange raises a hand in greeting - although it's closer to a mock salute - before nodding. ]

Hey, Atsuro. [ she gestures to the bags of food. ] Busy?

[oh hay gurl haaaay. Atsuro grins and gives her a wave.]

Hey, Ange! [Looking down at his bag of food for a moment, then back at her.] Not really. I'm just bringing some food back home for Kou.

[ idk if they talked about Kou or not before but she would figure it's a friend of his' either way yeaaah. ]

Ah, so that's how it is? Almost being like some sort of good puppy and fetching stuff for your owner. [ at least it's better than a waifu comparison as a joke?! maybe?! ]

[he probably would have, whether it was threaded or not--]

A good puppy fetching stuff for my owner? Really, Ange? [So rude!] He's sick, so I have to take care of the food and groceries and all.

[ oh, that's cool then! and Ange is made of rude, did you not know this. but in Atsuro's case she does it because she cares, sssh. ]

It's not too strange of a comparison. [ yes, it is, Ange.. ]

... But if he's sick, maybe a nurse would be more apt, huh? It's a good thing you're helping out your friend though, I guess.

[how... cute? maybe. idek. And it's a very accurate comparison, really. Not that Atsuro can recognize that though.

So he just sighs and ignores it!] I guess so. But it's nothing too serious; it's just a mild cold and he prefers staying home. It's not any trouble to help him out though, really.

Still, I know plenty of people who would just say 'sorry, you're on your own now, buddy' if someone they knew got sick. So you're already trying more than them, at least. [ shrug. ]

Are you cooking for him too?

[Wow, those are some rude people you know, Ange! Atsuro couldn't possibly say that to Koubro. But he nods, holding up his bag of groceries.]

Yup. I've been picking up soup for him the past few days, but I figured it may be boring to get him the same thing every day. So I'm going to make him some myself instead.

[ How do you think Ange got so rude, all she knows are rude people back home. But yes, you're being a good waifu to Koubro, Atsuro. ]

I didn't know you were good at cooking.

[why thank you]

My parents moved out of the country when I was in middle school, but I stayed behind. So I had to cook a lot for myself. I wouldn't say that I'm necessarily a good cook though. Just decent, I guess?

[ wooow wait forget about cooking, the rest is much more interesting considering Ange has a lot of family issues.. ]

Your parents moved away? That far, and.. you didn't go with them?

[a nod.] Yep. We lived in Japan, but around when I was in middle school, my parents decided to head over to Silicon Valley for work. My English isn't good at all, so I decided to stay in Japan.

It's not a big deal or anything though; I got along fine living by myself, and they came and visited every now and then too.

[ that's a pretty big deal?! ]

But you didn't think of wanting to go with your family? If it would have been me, I would have moved with them regardless of my level of English speaking abilities.

[Not to him! He's used to it.]

I did think about it for a while, but I figured staying back in Japan would be best for me. I think I would've had a harder time adjusting to a new country and its culture at such an age than I did when staying.

That's true, but nobody likes to be seperated from their family. [ She sounds rather firm on that point, since it's something she truly believes - she got absolutely miserable without hers. ]

You must be some really strange sort of person to pick that, Atsuro.

[ yet even if she says 'strange', it doesn't sound like an insult or even negatively. ]

I guess it does sound pretty strange, huh? [But then again, Atsuro's choices are always strange and unorthodox, so...]

As long as I got to see them every once in a while, it was fine. Plus, had I left, I probably wouldn't be where I am now and have the friends I have now, you know? [So he doesn't regret it or anything.]

Yeah, I guess you turned out just fine regardless of that choice.

[ Atsuro is more well-adjusted than she is, either way.. even Ange realises that. 8| ]

It's just the part with being fine with not even seeing your family that I can't get. But maybe it's just a difference between us.

Maybe. I can see why other people wouldn't do the same or just wouldn't get it though.

I'm guessing you would have gone with them if you were in my position, right?

Of course I would have gone with them. If I had a chance to spend more time with my family.. I would take it no matter what I would have to sacrifice, really.

Oh... Were you not able to back at home, Ange? [He frowns. The way she puts it, it sure sounds that way.]

My entire family died when I was only six years old, so I had little choice.

[ although she wouldn't have minded to have gone with them and died, but.. she'll leave that out for now. ]

My older brother is here, but even he is back from that time. He only remembers me being six.

[DOJI POINTED OUT A DERP ON MY PART... his parents left when he was in elementary school oops--]

O-oh... [He actually stumbles a bit over his words, feeling rather guilty for even asking that.] That must have been really rough though. Sorry for mentioning it, Ange.

[..awkward. He perks up a little at her mentioning an older brother though. Atsuro met someone like that before, didn't he..? Over the journals, but...] Older brother... Oh, Battler, right?

[ sssh, it's all retconned now. HANDWAVES. ]

It's fine. [ As usually she's rather short about it - even if it's not snappy nor deadpan, since.. yeah, it's basically what made her entire life into a hell, oops.

The next part surprises her though. ]

Yeah, Battler onii-chan-- .. you know him?

[O-OKAY...

Gaaaah. He feels really bad about bringing that up now...]

Um.. Yeah, vaguely. I spoke to him over the journals when he first got here, and I remember him mentioning he was your brother.

[ Let her tell you the story of how her life was suffering, Atsuro. ]

Yeah, he's my older brother. He's in this place, but he's from twelve years ago for me.. Right from before he died. He's being as much of a loud idiot as ever, though. [ she's saying it in an affectionate way, though.. lovable idiot.. ]
